Goodbye

So I’ve been thinking about this for a very long time, and I have decided that I’m going to leave Tumblr for an undetermined period of time. The website has become so toxic, all I see from it is hatred and misunderstanding. I have lost so many friends and seen so many people get hurt because of Tumblr’s pseudo-social justice views.  All people do on this site is bitch and fight and I’ve had enough of it. If any of you guys want to get in contact with me, go in my ask box and give me either your Skype or Facebook. It’s been a great ride with you guys, and I hope the best for you all.

Anonymous said: Yo, RED! You use to be so nice when you debated with others. Now you just seem like a really big asshole...

*sighs*

I really don’t mean to seem like an asshole. I really don’t. I never like being mean to people, but my friends told me that the only way people would listen to me is if I was assertive. And I’ve just been having some very bad weeks lately, losing my best friend and my crush within a short period of time has really taken a drag on me. I’m really sorry if I’m coming off as a bit ruder then usual, but I’m sick of people stepping all over me and exploiting my kindness. I need to be a bit more stern if I don’t want to be walked all over.

what the fuck…

I’ve had a dude do that before. that shit is terrifying. Dude went across the room like he typically would to get one. Came back and I didn’t know that he didn’t have one until he pulled out.
I FLIPPED. Cried all the way home. Cried for days. Got tested. Bought the morning after pill. Seriously, fuck dudes that do this. There should be laws against it.

There ARE laws against this. It’s called rape by deception or fraudulent rape and basically, it’s anytime the conditions of your consent are compromised. In a situation like this, you consented to protected sex. By having sex in a way you did not consent to, a crime WAS committed and he could be charged if any physical effects like pregnancy or STD occurred. Remember, ANY SEXUAL ACTIVITY YOU DON’T CONSENT TO IS RAPE.

How can anyone think this is ok, by any stretch of the imagination???

My ex did this and only told me after I dumped him. This is pretty much why men aren’t to be trusted

If a guy does this, it’s rape. Call the cops. Ruin his life since he has no problem risking yours. Make him fucking learn. Rapists belong in jail. Rape by deception is rape, not a funny “meme”.

I was agreeing with this, but the last two comments are… no.
"why men aren’t to be trusted" You are making an assumption that all men act like that because of a few assholes. Don’t do that.
"Ruin his life" While he does deserve to be punished for his actions, doing something as extreme as ruining his whole fucking life is uncalled for. Yes, this is an asshole move that could cause pregnancy and spread STDs, but if you make it your plan to ruin his life, then you’re just stooping to his level.

also men aren’t the only ones who do this

no, excuse me, don’t turn this into “not all men!1!!” after all the horrifying things men have done to both women and their fellow men i’m pretty sure being wary and distrustful of them is not a bad move. maybe it wasn’t phrased that well and obviously not every man is a rapist but when shit like this comes to light+everything else i’m pretty sure it’s justified for women to doubt them, even if you disagree.
and honestly there is no “plan” to ruin someone’s life. he’d get thrown in jail like he deserves. that’s life ruining enough. that’s what they meant. also going easy on rapists is exactly why they go free and do it all over again so nah, stooping to his level doesn’t really apply here. a man who has no regard for another human’s choices and betrays their trust over something as important (and intimate) as this is not a man i’d feel bad for.

No. Just. No. I’m bringing that “not all men” argument into this because of this exact attitude. Not only does that place stereotypes, but it also makes women look defenseless and it erases male victims. Women have also committed rape and abuse towards men. It happens unfortunately. Hatred isn’t exclusive to one gender or race or sexuality. And judging is whole group of people just because of the actions of a select few is fucking bullshit. It’s BEYOND fucking bullshit. And if anybody makes assumptions about any human being based on something that they cannot change, they are bigots. You know who has that same mentality, neo nationalists. They go around saying disgusting shit like “oh you better be wary of black people, they’ll rob you and kill your family!!!!” And ” ugh all women are sluts you better watch out for them”. And saying stuff like “oh, be wary of men they’ll rape you” is the same mentality. And don’t go around saying “oh, but they wern’t oppressed!”. Does that give you the right to be judgmental over something they were born as? It does not. And as long as people are making stereotypes about any group of people, I’m going to try my best to stop it.And with your other point. I’m not saying people who do that shouldn’t go to jail. Of course they should, it’s beyond disgusting to do something like that. But going around saying “oh i’m going to make their life a living hell” is childish. Toddlers have that mentality. And I’m sure as hell that you’re a lot smarter than a toddler because I’ve seen it. The eye for an eye mentality will only take us backwards and the perpetrator will not learn with this method. The “OH I’LL SHOW THEM !!!!111!!!” attitude is going to get you jack shit in life. And I know from personal experience. If I continuously showed loathing towards people who have hurt me, I would never have been able to move on. That mentality will get you stuck in place.

Anonymous said: Although I do agree what you said to the condom post, men technically are the only ones who wear condoms, so men would have to be the ones that would fake put a condom on.

It’s not with just condoms though. I know quite a few of my friends have lied about using birth control which is pretty fucking stupid. And there are female condoms too.

Okay. Here goes. It’s hard to deny how frivolous and self-indulgent sharing content that isn’t related to Ferguson, South LA, Palestine, Iraq, trolls messing with Zelda Williams, etc. seems today. It’s one of those days where it’s hard to keep your chin out of your hands, shoulders straight, eyes up. It’s hard to stay focused. Everything’s a bit overwhelming.
We tend to think of other species as predictable, with a list of traits that we can depend on them enacting, as observed scientifically. Some are fiercer than others, all are trying to stay alive. However, if we turned the lens on ourselves, on humans, we’d be presented with a species of terrifying, unwieldy brutes prone to unpredictable and violent behavior. We would see a lot of fear. We would see a species for whom continued humanity seems insignificant, despite the fact that humanity is all we’ve got, and all we’ve ever had. Recent events really suggest we’ve failed ourselves. Why are power and excess money so abundantly desirable? Our fixation with them suggests that they are needs, not wants. Why have we not begun to embed empathy into our value systems and ideologies to make our world an easier, happier place to live, in general? We so often take for granted that kindness and non-violence are not always inherent, that they are something we sometimes need a lot of help to learn. So why not teach them somewhere, institutionally? Why not learn to think about why another human is threatening or weak or sad, before we take action against them?
As humans, despite our many differences, there’s a lot that we have in common: we want love. We want our families and friends to avoid tragedy. We want to be treated with respect and care. Let’s try to avoid this continued power conquest and just be kind and considerate of one another. Please.
